Protecting South Coast Ecosystems: Recovery, threat abatement and connectivity actions for EPBC listed species: Improving connectivity and condition of corridor remnant vegetation addressed fragmentation to improve prospects for animal movement. Fencing of high value vegetation and revegetating within existing corridors improved habitat and prevented further fragmentation. This investment involved private landholders implementing strategic actions to improve habitat for Australian malleefowl and Carnabys cockatoo.
Southern Soils – Best practice for sustainable soils in the South Coast of WA: The North Stirlings Pallinup Southern Soils component facilitated demonstration field sites in targeted locations in the catchment area in key soil health areas of soil acidity and soil erosion. Associated workshops, field days, forums and communication activities engaged farming communities in innovative practices to increase skills and knowledge and adopt new behaviours. Specifically this project established a series of demonstration sites to show amelioration techniques to avoid or correct soil erosion on these sites. Soil acidity was also addressed by this project with maintenance and measurement of a previously established soil acidity trial.
